About us

Liberty Sanctuary is a volunteer-based equine nonprofit organization located on our 80 acre ranch in Heber City, UT, adjacent to the thriving mountain town of Park City, UT.  Our mission is not only to rescue and rehabilitate horses and donkeys from the slaughter pipeline but to share their stories and create  awareness for their plight and inhumane circumstances by helping to Pass the Save America's Forgotten Equine Act or the SAFE Act. The horse slaughter pipeline feeds an underground of black market business all which take advantage of the horse; America’s most noble animal.  The American horse stands for freedom.  Because of the horse, settlers were able to explore the country and head west.  It’s unfathomable how this gracious animal which has enabled the country’s progress has fallen victim to greed, severe abuse and too often an unjust and cruel demise.  We aim to advocate and be a voice for slaughter horses by promoting the SAFE Act and developing other solutions to protect and manage America's equine population.
