Full of personality and character, he loves having his butt scratched and will happily meet you at the gate—though he may also turn it into a playful game of chase if he even suspects you are trying to catch him for a reason he’s unsure about.
Petey is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. He truly enjoys human company and will climb right into your lap if you sit with him in the warm sun to share his mid-afternoon nap. His affectionate, goofy nature makes him a joy to be around and always brings a smile.
He stands well for both the farrier and veterinarian and loads into a trailer without issue. Petey would make an excellent companion animal for someone who appreciates a donkey with a big personality and lots of love to give. Adorable Petey was rescued from Texas in May, 2025 to be a travel buddy and companion to Dolce.

Our precious rescues are available for adoption to vetted and qualified homes. If you are interested in adopting, please reach out to us at info@libertysanctuary.org. Please let us know who you are interested in adopting and why. We would like to get to know you and see your facility so it would be great if you could send us a video tour of your set up. You will be asked to list your veterinarian, farrier and trainer if applicable.
Each Liberty horse comes with Ashley Dudas' Equine Partner Promise and a 1 month subscription to The Savvy Equestrian online learning platform to support you and your new horse in your initial stage of development.
Liberty will co-own the horse with you for its first year. Any horse can be returned to Liberty for any reason.
