GEMMA

IN DEVELOPMENT -  Gemma is a 2017 paint mare with a beautiful presence and a naturally curious interest in humans. She is a sensitive, thoughtful mare who will require consistent, daily work to build trust and eventually choose to come to her handler on her own.

Gemma thrives with a quiet, patient approach and does not do well when rushed or pressured into decisions. She is a sweet soul who was never given the opportunity to learn and grow with guidance, instead relying on flight in response to fear and the unknown. With time, consistency, and understanding, she has the potential to continue developing confidence.

At this time, Gemma is not easily catchable and will require an experienced, patient home that understands fearful horses and is committed to a slow, trust-based process. She is current on farrier and veterinary care. 

Gemma was rescued in 2023 from a Texas kill-pen with her tiny baby Jasper.

Gemma would be best suited for an experienced handler or a sanctuary-style environment where she can be given the time and space she needs to feel safe and learn at her own pace.
