MAVERICK

Maverick is an incredible 2022 grade black gelding who was rescued from the Wind River Reservation in 2023. He has an affectionate, “in-your-pocket” personality. He meets you at the gate, enjoys attention, and is willing to work. As a young, green horse, he can become anxious at times and will do best with a confident, calm handler who can provide clear guidance and consistency. He is currently being started under saddle and progressing in his riding. Maverick has a solid groundwork foundation: he moves willingly off the lead, backs, pivots, and disengages his hindquarters. He loads into a trailer, hauls quietly, and has been exposed to trails and indoor arenas, though he clearly prefers working outdoors. Maverick is a polite gentleman on the ground, stands well for both the veterinarian and farrier, and has previously worn shoes but is currently barefoot. He is fully up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and has had his teeth floated. This young gelding has a great attitude and plenty of potential for the right person looking to continue his education and build a strong partnership.
